Roman Blinds – a perfect block out

Roman Blinds

Roman Blinds bring a soft and romantic look to any room, while they block out the sun. They can also be practical in the kitchen. Roman blinds can be purchased with a blackout lining on the back to fully block out sunlight. Roman blinds come in a variety of colours and materials. The options are unlimited. It can fit any budget and bring colour into a room. It provides specific originality and softness to any room.

The Basic Structure of a Roman Blind

Roman blinds are different from standard window blinds in that they stack up evenly when opened. However, when they are open they are visibly smooth, not bumpy or ribbed like typical vertical shades or blinds.

Unlike other blinds such as roller, vertical, and Venetian blinds, Romans offer no option to protect against high temperatures or moisture, making them unsuitable for bathrooms. Fortunately, clever use of Roman Blinds can help keep your house cool and your bills in check. The Department of Energy says that smart management of window coverings can reduce heat gain by up to 77%. And, as a bonus, these same practices can reduce heat loss in the winter.

How to clean Roman Blinds

While Roman blind fabrics should always be handled with care, they can be kept clean and dust-free by using a vacuum cleaner with an upholstery attachment. Regular maintenance will prevent you from having to deep clean your blinds more frequently. Regularly dust, or vacuum your blinds with a brush attachment. If your blinds are machine washable, wash at a temperature no higher than 30 degrees. The easiest way to do this is with a vacuum cleaner brush attachment. Alternatively, if you do not have one available, a microfiber cloth will work perfectly well. Whichever method you use, wipe down your fabric blinds. Then, soak your sponge in soap and water.
